Rules and usage:
-
The church library is available to church members and sponsored visitors.
-
We will need your name, address and a phone number. For children and youth we need the contact of a parent and/or a sponsor. (A sponsor must be a regular attending member of the church)
-
Sponsored individuals may only check out 1 item at a time.
-
2 items may be checked out at a time for 2 weeks at a time. You may recheck items up to 2 times.
-
You can speak to a librarian for other options.
-
If you destroy books or never return books your library privileges can be revoked and you will be financially responsible for a replacement.
Donations:
-
You can give money for memorials or honorariums to your church library. A book plate will be placed in or on the item to designate it as a memorial or an honorarium.
-
Books become the property of the church library once donated. If we have duplicate books and do not have room to keep them, we donate them to the local nursing home or sell them in a yearly book sale. Book sale money goes directly back to the library to purchase items needed.
-
We try to carefully screen books to make sure they are appropriate for our Christian library, although we do accept secular books, as long as they are in good taste.
BRIEF MATERIAL SELECTION POLICY
The purpose of this policy statement is to insure, insofar as is possible, that materials selected for inclusion in the Church Library collection will glorify God and aid the user in worship of and service to Him. The selection criteria are meant to fulfill the aims of the Mission Statement, and the general guidelines apply to books, pamphlets, periodicals, audiocassettes, filmstrips, videocassettes, slides, equipment, CD-ROMs, other electronic media and services. They apply equally to material purchased with church or memorial funds and in the acceptance and retention of material from donors.
Titles dealing with Christianity, its history, beliefs, theology, customs, and interpretation should have an obvious Biblical foundation. Care is given to selecting items that appeal to the various age levels and constituencies of the church. Inclusion of materials not related to Biblical, spiritual, and personal Christian development will be minimal in the collection, although other material may be needed to supplement the curriculum and Church administration needs. As space is at a premium, only in rare cases will duplicate titles be added, and “weeding” will be done on a systematic basis.
