Faith@Home FAQ's

What is Faith@Home exactly?

FAITH@HOME EXPLAINED-PRINTABLE HANDOUT

§ Faith@Home is a ministry strategy that empowers the family/home in the spiritual training of children and youth. The conventional model of children’s and youth ministry is church-centered and home/family-supported. Conversely, the Faith@Home model is family/home-centered and church-supported. The biblical basis for this model comes from Deuteronomy 6:4-9.

What are the components of the Faith@Home ministry strategy?

§  Faith Talks
  • Faith Talks are weekly times set aside in the home to talk about faith that usually involve, but are not limited to, prayer and Scripture reading.

§  God Sightings

  • God Sightings are spontaneous times where the parent/family member/child notice God’s handiwork, whether through nature, personal relationships, etc.

§  Milestone Celebrations

  • Milestone Celebrations are planned times of celebration that mark when a child has reached a particular milestone in the child’s development.
  • We celebrate seven different milestones with families

o   Baby Blessing

o   First Bible

o   Faith Commitment

o   Preteen Passage

o   Commitment to Purity

o   Passage to Adulthood

o   High School Graduation

  • Marking each Milestone consists of three events

o   Family Training seminars (conducted on Family Sundays)

o   All-Church Celebration (commitment/recognition ceremony that happens during the worship service on specified Sundays)

o   Family Celebration (a special celebration of the child’s milestone that is designed by the family and held at a time and place of their choosing)

§  It is important to note that Faith Talks and God Sightings are the daily steps a family takes with a child to walk them from one milestone to the next.

What is Family Sunday?

§  Family Sundays happen once a quarter.  On those days, we alter our normal Sunday School schedule so that we may offer Faith@Home training to parent/families during Sunday School.  After worship, we offer Milestone Seminars for those families who have a child nearing a Milestone.
